Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic histories and stories of migration have been largely underrepresented in UK schools. Many feel that a ‘whitewashed’ curriculum is concealing the realities of the British empire. By ignoring colonial rule, we refuse to acknowledge the ancestors of many people, especially the powerful millennial generation, holding ties with both Britain and other nations.
There are pioneering platforms that are currently pushing for change, and we stand with them.
